As the crisis deepens and President Trump vows there will be no negotiations until Iran unconditionally surrenders, concern has grown among Americans about the possibility of a nuclear strike on US soil . A recent investigative report explored this worst-case scenario, painting a grim picture of the devastation that would follow across the entire country. The projections were chilling as tens of millions could perish within minutes as nuclear warheads struck major metropolitan areas such as New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles .

What the world could look like in 2035 according to more than 350 experts
Hundreds of experts on international affairs believe World War III is inevitable and will likely start within the next 10 years. A new survey of 357 political strategists and foresight practitioners weighed in on the future of humanity, with four in 10 saying a major war involving powerhouses like the US, China or Russia will explode in 2035. By 2035, four in 10 global strategists (40.5%) predicted that a world war involving major nations like the United States, China, or Russia will break out. The majority of those who believe WWIII is coming said that it would likely involve nuclear weapons and battles in outer space. The most notable example pushing respondents to predict would likely be President Donald Trump establishing the US Space Force in 2019.

'Superforecaster' says World War III is about to begin and US will 'collapse by 2032'
A controversial'superforecaster' has predicted that World War III is about to begin, while will lead to the collapse of the US by 2032. Martin Armstrong has made the stark claims using AI-powered computer named'Socrates' that he programed to monitors the world news feeds and looks for fundamental news events that correlate behind the global trends. Armstrong, who used Socrates to predict Japan's 1989 real estate crash and Russia's 1998 financial crisis, now believes the current conflict in Ukraine will cascade into a wider international conflict, based on the latest data analysis. 'I think it's the only real artificial intelligence system in the world,' the infamous, self-taught economic modeler told DailyMail.com. Armstrong created the AI program out of a desire to write software that could automate hedge fund trading back in the 1970s and '80s.

AI in Five, Fifty and Five Hundred Years -- Part Two -- Fifty Years
Check out part one of this series for what the next five to fifteen years looks like in AI. In part two we get super sci-fi and see if our crystal ball can reach 50 years into the future. Once dumb objects have woken up. Your shirt is babbling away with your shades and having a conversation with your girlfriend's pearl earrings when she's traveling to give a talk in Brazil. Everything from our houses, to weapons, to planes, trains and automobiles, to roads, clothes, jewelry, headphones, glasses, and eye contacts are wild with thoughts. The dynamic new algorithms that pushed us past deep learning and powered the fourth wave of the intelligence revolution sprang from world wide efforts to map every single neuron and connection in the human brain. Eventually the processors and biotechnology caught up with our ambitions and scientists succeeded beyond our wildest expectations.

Scientists plead to stop creation of killer robots: We're at 'the brink of a new arms race'
Dozens of scientists, health care professionals and academics have written a letter to the U.N. calling for an international ban of autonomous killer robots, saying recent advances in artificial intelligence "have brought us to the brink of a new arms race in lethal autonomous weapons." The letter, which has been signed by more than 70 health care professionals and was put together by the Future of Life Institute, states that lethal autonomous weapons could fall into the hands of terrorists and despots, lower the barrier to armed conflict and "become weapons of mass destruction enabling very few to kill very many." "Furthermore, autonomous weapons are morally abhorrent, as we should never cede the decision to take a human life to algorithms," the letter continues. "As healthcare professionals, we believe that breakthroughs in science have tremendous potential to benefit society and should not be used to automate harm. We therefore call for an international ban on lethal autonomous weapons."

Elon Musk says Mars colony a hedge against World War III
SpaceX is developing a reusable rocket-spaceship system called the BFR to help make Mars settlement economically feasible. Humanity's brutal and bellicose past provides ample justification for pursuing settlements on the moon and Mars, Elon Musk says. The billionaire entrepreneur has long stressed that he founded SpaceX in 2002 primarily to help make humanity a multiplanet species -- a giant leap that would render us much less vulnerable to extinction. Human civilization faces many grave threats over the long haul, from asteroid strikes and climate change to artificial intelligence run amok, Musk has said over the years. And he recently highlighted our well-documented inability to get along with each other as another frightening factor.

AI 'more dangerous than nukes': Elon Musk still firm on regulatory oversight ZDNet
Video: Is regulating AI a bad idea? Entrepreneur Elon Musk has long held the position that innovators need to be aware of the social risk artificial intelligence (AI) presents to the future, but at South by Southwest (SXSW) on Sunday, the SpaceX founder pieced together his plan for the second coming of the Dark Ages, noting AI "scares the hell" out of him. Machine learning, task automation and robotics are already widely used in business. These and other AI technologies are about to multiply, and we look at how organizations can best take advantage of them. Making an appearance on a couch with his friend, creator of science fiction western series Westworld Jonathan Nolan, Musk said that although he's not usually an advocate for regulation and oversight, the AI proposition is where he can make an exception.

Elon Musk is wrong. The AI singularity won't kill us all
It seems you can't open a newspaper without Elon Musk predicting that artificial intelligence (AI) needs regulating – before it starts World War III. And if it's not Elon, its Vladimir telling us AI will rule the world. I'm starting to feel like I'm a very dangerous guy. There was a time, 20 years back, when people just smiled at me when I told them I was working on building intelligent machines. And I knew that smile was one of sympathy.
The controversy over Artificial Intelligence isn't new
As a technology pioneer, Elon Musk is hardly anyone's idea of a Luddite. So when Musk tweeted that artificial intelligence competition with Russia and China would be the "most likely cause" of World War III, it got people pretty worked up. We were worried about the perils of creating an artificial being long before AI became a science. The term "robot" comes from a play written in 1920 by Karel Čapek called R.U.R -- Rossum's Universal Robots (Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti in the original Czech). The play starts in a factory that manufactures synthetic people to serve as workers.

Jack Ma: We need to stop training our kids for manufacturing jobs
Jack Ma: 'It's not made in China, it's made on the internet' Jack Ma knows artificial intelligence will change the world. The Alibaba founder and chairman doesn't think we should be scared. But he does think we should be prepared for major disruptions to the job market. "In the last 200 years, manufacturing [has brought] jobs. But today -- because of the artificial intelligence, because of the robots -- manufacturing is no longer the main engine of creating jobs," Ma said Wednesday in a speech at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum in New York City.
